On recording at Abbey Road Studios
"It was prolific. Walking down those stairs to Studio 2, I thought of the many greats who have walked before me: The Beatles. Pink Floyd. Adele. Ed Sheeran. I was breathing in the vibrations of this big huge studio. Seeing this Steinway concert grand piano, they set up for me in the exact footprint in that back left corner of the studio where the Beatles set up for their recordings. Playing my songs and recording, I felt this is where I belong. I am beyond thankful for having this opportunity."
Born in Huntington, West Virginia, Ed Bazel began his journey with the piano at the age of five, later drawing musical inspiration from The Beatles' iconic debut on The Ed Sullivan Show, and playing in bands as a teen. As a professional pianist, Ed studied under such greats as Jay Flippin, Lou Levy, Joe Harnell, and Clare Fischer.
Today, he is an award-winning pianist and the Worldwide Brand Ambassador for Kayserburg Pianos for Artists.
As a contemporary pianist, Ed's compositions are described as hauntingly beautiful songs with a soul-searching touch. His unique sense of melody, combined with passionate expression and excellent technique, makes him a popular choice for listeners who want to simply relax and unwind. His five independently-produced albums – Bella Piano, Homecoming, The London Sessions: Reflections from Studio 2, The London Sessions: New Perspectives from Studio 2, and The Christmas Sessions – offer a romantic and elegant mix of original compositions, as well as unique cover renditions of beloved songs by The Beatles.
Recording The London Sessions collection at Abbey Road Studios was a dream come true for Ed, a lifelong Beatles fan. In Fall 2024, he recorded an album at Skywalker Sound in Marin County, CA with renowned recording engineer Leslie Ann Jones. He has also produced two Immersive Audio albums with the GRAMMY-Award winning producer Herbert Waltl, mixer Eric Schilling, and mastering engineer Michael Romanowski.
Ed was recently named Instrumentalist of the Year by the LIT Awards, after winning over a dozen awards for his latest album. The Nashville area’s Miller Piano Specialists awarded him two MPS Hall of Fame Awards for "Instrumentalist" and the "Entertainer of the Year" and in 2023, he was recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his accomplishments in the music industry. He has been a noted solo pianist in Los Angeles including The Beverly Hills Country Club and as house pianist at The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel, CA. He was even named "Best Pianist In Downtown LA" by a Los Angeles newspaper.
In addition to being a pianist, Ed is the founder of The River of Calm - Music to Soothe Your Soul™ - an international online radio station bringing calming music to a stressed-out world, and The River of Calm’s Headphones for Chemotherapy initiative to provide calming music to chemotherapy patients in clinics.
